About Grays Bakery Kerang

Gray's Bakery is a family owned business. Chris and Janine Gray along with their seven children have owned the bakery for the past 10 years.

Chris is a fourth generation baker. He did his apprenticeship at Gray's Bakery under his parents back in 1982 and has worked there ever since.

Chris's parents Laurie and Marion Gray originally bought the bakery back in 1962. It consisted of only 2 bakers and 2 shop girls. Today the bakery has a team of 15  including 4 in the bakehouse, 2 drivers, 2 office staff and seven shop assistants.

The business consists of  a busy shop front that opens Monday to Friday from 5am until 5.30pm and on Saturdays 6am until 1pm. It also wholesales to customers in the surrounding area including Cohuna, Barham, Swan Hill, Quanbatook, surrounding lakes and throughout the Mallee. The wholesale component of the shop was delivered originally by a horse named "Wanda" and she pulled a cart. Now days we have three delivery  vans going out in all directions.

The shop itself has had a number of renovations and face lifts over the years as it has expanded and grown. It is currently about to embark on another renovation as we move into the next phase of the business. We hope to have it completed in time for our 50th birthday celebrations in 2012.

Gray's Bakery produces all its own bread, rolls, pastries, cakes, pies pasties etc...  Chris is always happy to do those "special orders" that are requested from time to time, simply  Contact Us.

The Bakery sponsors many of the local activities in the area including football clubs,schools, a number of sporting clubs, senior citizens and events that run throughout the region.

The shop offers outdoor seating under the shade of three weeping elm trees. We have many travellers call in for a coffee break and a stretch of their legs. Why not come and stay for a day or two - there is many great attractions around Kerang to visit why not check it out at Travel Victoria . Many people ring ahead and  Contact Us  with an order for lunch , morning tea or to organise food for a special event. We offer a selection of foods for catering no matter if it's for 4 or 400 people. We also make special occasion cakes to order. The bakery is happy to run fundraisers for local clubs like pie drives, hot cross bun drives or for any product you fancy.

We believe that a consistant high quality product is a combination of only the best quality ingredients and a passion for what we do. You can't substitute either.
